Our story

How the club started

Footvolley Club was founded by Erick Kretzu, who owns and leads the club today.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, he played professionally, founded Footvolley Club in the United States and today leads the academy at Praia de Carcavelos.

The game

What is footvolley?

Footvolley mixes football and beach volleyball: usually two players per side, a net, sand, and no hands.

Control, touch and teamwork count for more than strength, which makes it a good first step for beginners and a demanding sport at the top.

The founder

Who is Erick

Erick Kretzu, known as “O Professor”, founded Footvolley Club and leads it today. He keeps it open to everyone, from people who have never touched the ball to athletes who compete.

He is part of the club on the sand: in the training groups, at the nets and at the tournaments the club organises.

That is why the club feels the way it does. The door is open to beginners, and the standard stays high for those who want to compete.
